Hey guys! Welcome to this beautiful blog post. Thank you so much for stopping by!
(P.S:I am so excited about this post!)
First things first. A big welcome to all my new followers. It has been an amazing six months thanks to you! We are now at 550 Instagram followers. Thank you so much for the love and support. You are truly the best. We just need the same numbers reciprocated on Twitter, Facebook and even WordPress. We can do it!
Since I post irregularly, I would advice you to subscribe by clicking the three dots at the top right hand side of this page! Scroll down to “Follow Kulanini” and add your email! This will enable you to always get notified when a new blog post is up!
Additionally, you could follow @Kulanini on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to always be updated on my latest posts, and to see what I eat during the week. The latest post is about Pilau from Swahili Plate.
Remember, if I know it will be a short post, there will only be a picture with a short description on social media; and not a whole blog post. Therefore, it is important to be in touch on social media so you don’t miss out on anything!

ON TO THE BLOG POST…
There is a NEW RESTAURANT right opposite T-mall guys! Its at the Mbagathi road – Langata road round-about. Charlie’s Bistro is at the top of the new orange building at that round-about.
Why is it good news for Langata road? This is something fresh and exciting in this area.
Students at Strathmore University, Riara University, CUEA and JKUAT Karen also have this wonderful place at their disposal. Don’t get me started on those tall, amazing cocktails that are the talk of town. (Will be on the next post. Stay tuned.)
This restaurant is nothing short of amazing. I love the ambience, and really enjoyed taking these pictures. I hope you enjoy them!
Charlie’s Bistro is designed and named after the famous actor: Charlie Chaplin. There are quotes and pictures of him in the restaurant and on their logo too! I think this is very unique.
I would describe Charlies Bistro Restaurant as a high end restaurant. The professionalism, attention to detail and even the decor, shows how well thought out this restaurant design was. If little details excite you, then you should definitely visit the Charlies Bistro.
This restaurant is actually quite big and can sit over 200 people comfortably. They have several sitting areas. There are sofas, high seats, normal tables and even benches!
Charlies Bistro has an open kitchen that enables the guests to see what’s going on! Can it get any better than this?
The art work is incredible, You have all kinds. From the ancient-themed to the african paintings; that’s all very beautiful.
Lights! lights! lights! Lighting is very important. Charlies has ensured there is both natural and artificial light at the restaurant. Not just any lights but, pretty pretty lights. The chandelier is my favorite; followed by, the round ball-like ones.
Charlies Bistro is at the top most floor. This gives a beautiful view below. It is also not fully enclosed but has canvas covers that cover the open spaces (don’t know the exact name) in case it gets too cold. In that case, we could call it both an outdoor and indoor restaurant. A cool breeze flows in as though you were seated outside. If the canvas is pulled down, then its all enclosed. (See first picture).
The space has 2 bars in the restaurant. If am not wrong, one is for alcoholic drinks (except wine), while the other is for hot drinks, non-alcoholic drinks and wines.
Both bars have the high bar stools. I especially like the brown seats. They are very pretty.
There are also two large glass cabinets near each bar, to showcase their finest drinks. They have one for whiskeys and another for wine. Just the design of these cabinets and arrangement of bottles within them, is beautiful.
DJ? Yes. There is a whole section dedicated to the DJ. They have an amazing sound system and turn tables. Its like being in a high end club. Sound both during the day and in the night is awesome; with the day music being a bit calm and relaxing.
Charlie’s is the ultimate party/ turn-up joint! Great ambience, good food and great music? Need I say more?
Anyone and everyone can go to Charlies. It is a good place for a business meeting, to hang-out with your friends, an AMAZING SPOT for a date (wink wink Strathmore uni, Riara uni e.t.c Surprise your significant other at this amazing place.), family lunch and basically anything.
You could even just go in for a nice drink after a long day or start your weekend night-out here! It’s conveniently next to most places. Well, maybe except Thika Road and Muthaiga. Sorry guys. Then again you have T.R.M, Two Rivers and Garden City.
If you’d like a bit more silence maybe for a meeting or a family lunch, then I recommend going during the day, when it isn’t as packed. Their happy hour is everyday from 5 p.m to 7 p.m and all day on Sunday for 500/= for all drinks. Therefore, you can imagine how packed it can get in the evening on weekends especially.
I didn’t mention how clean this restaurant is! I think the amazing lighting helps them see each and every corner. You can imagine how dusty it must get when wind is blowing in! However, you will not see even a speck of dust. White was white and not cream. You know what I mean.
Charlies is not only a restaurant, but a hotel too! They are opening the rooms section very soon! More on this in my next post on the food.
I will attach the menus below, in case anyone wants to pay them a visit before my next post on the food.
That’s all I had for you today. Thank you for stopping by.
